Greek Orthodox Parish of Hunterdon County |
| The
Greek Orthodox Parish of Hunterdon County is the first and only Greek Orthodox
Church in Hunterdon County. We are proud to
say that we are the first Greek Orthodox Parish of Hunterdon County. Our parish received its charter in the summer of 2002 to operate as an ecclesiastic institution of the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of America.
We celebrated our first Divine Liturgy Sunday, September 22, 2002, at 670 Route 12, Flemington, NJ. Since then we have celebrated the Divine Liturgy every Sunday, as well as all our major religious holidays. This miracle would not have occurred without the help of the Greek Orthodox Metropolis of New Jersey and a very special core of people who selflessly came together to do "God's work." We have developed a number of programs, including weekly Religious Education classes, GOYA, HOPE, and JOY programs for the youth, a Choir, a ladies' Philoptochos Society, and a Greek Language program. Our goal is to build a strong, permanent Orthodox community in the Hunterdon County area, one that will provide a place for Christian outreach and teaching. We view our ongoing mission as a labor of love. With the continued support of our Parish Priest, Father George Nikas, the faithful in the community, and by all means, God's help, we are succeeding. Please join us by taking an active part in this Christian effort, offering your time, talents, and treasures to the church -- it promises a rewarding spiritual journey for us all.
